A lesson learnt... rear axle
« on: 22, April, 2010 - 11:29:10 »
Well, as some of you know I broke my rear axle the other day. I've got another in the post (which according to DHL has been "out for delivery" for about 2 hours now, so it should be here soon).

But I thought I'd take the old one off in preparation of it arriving here. Little did I know what I would find!

As you can see from the picture, it's snapped right in two. It broke on the "deep" gash caused by the old damaged bearing. I thought It'd be ok, I found that the "collar" would go on regardless and I filled the gap with a small piece of copper. Needless to say this didn't work for very long!

However, other than this snap it's caused no other damage thank goodness, so as soon as the axle arrives I can put it all back together and take it for a test run!

:-D
