3 off repairs for Johnny5
« on: 24, July, 2012 - 18:45:55 »
Hi all - makeing the most of the weather I moved out of the workshop and into the garden to turn my attention to 3 c5's in for repair

The wiring looks very challenging and there are a number of issues for the top bodging gallery (not by the present owner) so I will post them later but in the mean time some progress ::

As received - although working two of them were a wiring nightmare :

A very large on - off switch

So decided to strip all 3 and start again - so far the motors have been rebuilt - one replacement gearbox - all new inners - one set of tyres - 2 control box repairs - one replacement control box - all bearings greased or replaced - metal work painted - new brake blocks and cables

Next to get the bodies back on with power wiring kits and new harness as required :

A bit more progress today - major head scratching on wiring but managed to get back to original :

From this :

To this :

And the none indicator version :

And found some little visitors:

Now for some of the bodges :

Wiring harness with quick release clamps :

Large on off switch :

The old belt slip fence mod :

And a good one that seems to work well :

Gotta love a good bodge haha. I cut the old sills off one of my minis to find them full with expander foam. What goes though peoples minds when they do things like this I will never know haha.

Did the C5's actually work with all that bodging ... i would have thought the risk of something going bang was probably quite high  :o ;D

Looks like you've done a great job on sorting them all out .. well done  :)
