eBay - a prototype for sale in devon
« on: 02, July, 2012 - 13:43:55 »
Hello
Anyone got any comments on the potential prototype on eBay at thr moment? One of 4 that can be for sale and has some sort of gears.
Would be great if anyone has the details on all 4 or knows the person/history etc.
If not then I will give him a call just for the low down and info!
Cheers, poze

Hi there just had a quick look at it and I did spot that the motor/gearbox is the grey type with the fragile  fingers that break off very easy so it will be very hard to restore ..But regarding the C5 as a hole I have restored worse but It will need a good look over before anyone decided to buy it
bye Chas

This one ?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sinclair-C5-Fully-working-Electric-bike-NO-RESERVE-/110908187265?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item19d2a4a281

When viewing the Sinclair C5 DVD's that Roy Woodward used to sell I remember seeing a c5 with a 5-speed cog fitted to the rear axle , shame there's no piccie on Ebay to confirm if it is one of those Prototype's ?

I'm pretty keen so have asked for images to compare to the DVD images you mention, will pass them if I receive them.
It would be a big Shame I think if these were prototypes and they were sold to non fans or went missing as it were. Genuine history is good to buy and be aware of what you have.
Cheers!

I have the photo!
Check this out:

Do you know if its the same as the DVD? I wasnt able to locate anything online or in my paperwork. I've asked for some other photos to see the rest, I will bid, but of course i will bid more if its deemed a genuine prototype and not a homemade effort.

The seller is in Exeter and I did see that Tony Wood Rogers who did a lot of the design was also from Exeter and worked at Exeter Acadamy. I have the Sinclair Org Charts so i have also requested the name of the original owner.
I have photos of the other 3, but they just look normal, i suspect all mods are undeneath like this 5 speed one.

I'm not expecting to win this C5 as i think it will go for a good price, but i'm mostly keen that someone buys it whos a fan and will show and picture it for the Forum, so id rather this info was on here and hopefully someone on here buys it! We shall see anyway.

If i get any additional info i will post it.  Cheers,Poze

Hello, just working on it now. I'm keen to see the work involved and then bid accordingly on it. I think the designer person Might be a man called tony Wood Rogers from Exeter.
Karl-did you get a chance to look at that DVD? See if it's the same. Body is nov 84 so it makes sense.
Cheers

WOW this is a really interesting thread i hope it is an original prototype, would be nice to know that it exists in such good condition, even if it isnt somebody's done a great job on those gears by the look of it and its still a top spec C5 including indicators, mirrors and a set cushion, should go for high price ?
