The Ubmobile has resurfaced
« on: 25, November, 2012 - 09:42:10 »
I've received the following email from a gent living not too far from me ;

Dear Karl,

    I was given your contact details by John Pulford at Brooklands. I have in my possession the 'unique' (and slightly bizarre) Sinclair C5 'Gran Turismo' (pictures attached)! This vehicle has an obscure history, but was as I understand it built by a German enthusiast, and initially displayed in a German motor museum before finding its way to a Scottish museum, and thence to me. It is interesting, if rather Heath Robinson, and working, although it requires some work to the drive belt. I also have a 'standard' C5 (working, although with a battery that holds almost no charge - and I only have one key between both of these vehicles!). Both of these vehicles are for sale, and I wondered if you would know of anyone likely to be interested? I am based in East Molesey.

..from the piccies attached to the email (not shown here) it is Ray's old "Ubmobile". I'm so glad to see it has survived and is still in one piece. I'm hoping he will be placing it up for sale on our website, just awaiting his reply.

Blimey it's done some travelling since Ray owned it ! - looks like the write up may have been from a Karl e-mail  ;D - be nice if one of the forum members brought it - kind of an old friend coming home - just need to find Minidaz's purple haze now.

  • You don't have to be mad to own a C5, but it helps

If you enter ubmobile in the search field of the c5alive forum you will find several topics showing that,
which is the first thing I did when Karl's post appeared and all I received was Karl's first post, and now it's only Karl's and minidaz's posts.  :-\

Depends which section of the forum you are in when you enter the details.

Enter "ubmobile" into the search field from the "home" page of the forum and you should see more "hits" appear .

That text shown on the Ebay listing does indeed comprise of an edited version of my email reply  :)

Thanks Karl and Marty,

looks like the lot of you had some great fun. I need a variation of a Pink Floyd song to be named 'Wish I Was There'.  ::)
