Hi from Malcolm in Sydney
« on: 14, April, 2013 - 03:29:52 »
Hi , My name is Malcolm and I am a C5aholic.

The last (and first time since I was a kid) time I rode a C5 was yesterday.

I have been looking of a C5 for a while, and met a guy with some to restore. One of which will be mine.

My progress restoring the C5s is documented  here. http://malfunction.faed.name/search/label/C5

I am almost done identifying what parts I will need and will need to go shopping.  ;)

I look forward to 'meeting' you here..

Malcolm.

Not sure of the best forum for tech notes, but here is some data on the motor and gearbox components.

C5 drive components
Planetary gearbox output drive pulley:
- Diameter ~31mm
- 21 tooth

Axle Drive pulley:
- Diameter ~107mm
- 68 tooth
- One Way Bearing INA HFL 2026

Drive Belt:
- Length = 400mm
- Width = 18mm
- Teeth = 80 tooth
- 5mm Pitch
- Megadyne Isoran 400 RPP5
- Local .au equivalent - 400-T5 80 400.0 from http://www.naismith.com.au/catalogues/pulleys/metric.pdf

Final ratio = 21/68 = .308 or a 3.23 reduction.

Replacement Aluminium Pulleys from Naismith in Sydney:
- Large = 60 60-T5-16
- Small = 18  18-T5-16F for similar final drive ratio.

Could use 25mm wide pulleys to allow for machining.

Motor Bearing - Both Ends: GMN 6201 - data http://www.gmnbt.com/deep-groove-bearings-selection-guide.htm
Planetary support bearing x2 (on drive end of motor shaft) GMN 607
Large output shaft bearing 61808

3 x Gearbox planet carrier shafts ~ 8mm
