C5 storage solutions / Suggestions.
« on: 02, August, 2011 - 16:17:10 »
Hi All

With my newly purchased C5 still taking centre stage in the Kitchen, as you can imagine I'm under a little pressure from my live in Landlord to find her a better home! EEEK.

Since rear wheel removal is required just to get it in & out of the house & our garden has no rear access, storing the C5 in a standard garden shed is out of the question & the C5 would then be so tricky to get out onto the road I'd not get my use.

So I hit upon the idea of a large wooden bike store for our front garden instead, which would do away with wheel removal & make getting my machine on the road a one person job.

The trouble is that many of them were simply too short or not deep enough.........
I found this 7 foot by 3 foot wooden shed from www.shedstore.co.uk though for £145.95
http://www.shedstore.co.uk/garden-storage/shed-plus-garden-storage/overlap-bike-store-73/shed-plus-overlap-bike-store-73-7-by-3

& wondered what you guys think about it, or do you have any other suggestions? It's got double doors etc but I'm still unsure as to whether I could wheel the C5 inside it with ease.

Cheers Neil

Hi - I've been searching for some info on here - I know Umpa had a small outside storage shed which housed 2 c5's (one for the Landlord lol) - also someone built one - does anyone recall it im sure it would give Copendriver some ideas ?  :)

Thanks Marty

I'm going to hold off the purchase until I've had some feedback & luckily my Landlord is the easy going type!

Something bespoke would be the ideal solution, but as I'm on a budget I doubt I could afford that just now.

I'm hoping to get as much dry weekend use as possible.

The 7ft by 3ft shed should do the job , seems big enough according to the dimensions of the c5;

..seems like a nice cheap solution  8)

Hi  Karl

Hope you are both well?

The 7foot by 3foot dimensions should do it & for £145.95 think it could also swallow my Brompton too, leaving the house vehicle free, yay!

Just wanted you folk to have a butchers 1st, as I was just hoping that the double doors will allow me to wheel the C5 in rear first & give enough nose clearance.

Looking forward to the build & stuff.

Just a little bit of a warning that if you have something like that shed in the front of the house, potential theives will think there are bikes or tools in it and bye bye C5. I would play safe and look for a local lockup or a neighbour you can rent a garage from..........

sorry for the dampener.

Move out to a B&B or hotel and keep the house as a C5 House for all your future c5's

Sheds, thats old school.

Have you considered a bat cave.

Now a bat cave could work.

After all I suppose all 3 modes of transport I have aren't normal.

This is what i use for one of mine !  8)

You will still have room  for other bits as well above it using Hooks or similar attached to the wall behind.

Perfect fit !

Hi Plod

Loving that garden tidy tent storage idea.
Alas this is zone 2 in central London & I just know that would go walk about.

I'm lucky in that it's still a peaceful part of London, (there are such gem's left) with great neighbours & people have scooters and motorbikes with covers over them & they get left alone.
Can't help thinking that a C5 looks more valuable than they actually are...

Hi Thanks Coverman

Think I will be purchasing a cover too at some stage but this is inner city London and want something I can secure to the house making it more difficult to make off with my C5 and Brompton.

Or make a shelf in a closet? or in the shed? Without the battery its simple to lift up.

I even have an electric wench to get it up and down! 8)
