Rodwell Trail - 21st August 2010
« on: 29, January, 2010 - 23:04:05 »
Hello everyone.  I'd like to 'host' one in my home town, if anyone's willing to visit.  As advised by Karl, I've posted this here, to see how many people may like to attend.

The date can be changed if more people are able to attend on a specific date.  However, I appreciate that numbers will be limited.

My proposed route, is called the 'Rodwell Trail', and is alongside a dis-used railway line.  Naturally, it's a cycle path, and has recently undergone a re-surfacing with smooth tarmac.  Here's a link... http://website.lineone.net/~wendyedwards/rodwelltrail001.html

You may have seen this route on Julia Bradbury's Railway Walks programme - http://www.juliabradbury.com/railways.html

I should point out though, that we'd only be riding on the smooth part of the trail!  Not the rocky hill or track parts as shown on some pictures!!

There's a pub at the start, and a pub at the end.  Car parking near each end too.

I'm thinking August.  Would this be ok with anyone?

Here's a link to the local website, to tickle your tastebuds... www.visitweymouth.co.uk

If anyone's interested in making a weekend of it, I'd be happy to supply details of reasonably priced B&B's and Guest Houses.  I can also post details of maps and attractions if required.  If you'd like a brochure sent to you, click here - http://weymouth.nmspace.net/site/requestinfo

There's a lot to see besides the Rodwell Trail, and in August, the area is a family resort, with many places offering walks, entertainment and open visitor attractions.  What's more, there would be plenty of chances for ice-cream!!  So, why not bring the family?

This is also an area which is very pleasant, and friendly too.  A great chance to show off the C5 smiles!!

Looks like a nice route mate, but at nearly 250 miles away its too far for me. Sorry but would'nt be able to get to this one, but I'm sure you will have a great day.

I Totally understand.  I thought about hiring a van and bringing my C5 to one of the events that you guys attend, but it just worked out too expensive.  Same for you guys too I guess.  It'd probably use about the best part of a full tank to even get to me, let alone get home.

I'll hang on though, just in case anyone is able to attend.  But I really do understand if people can't.
