Shell wanted
« on: 07, March, 2012 - 12:16:00 »
My mate would like a complete shell as he has the intentions of building the chassis himself out of something a bit more substantial than folded tin.

He's in North East Lincolnshire.

You would only need a more substantial chassis if you were using a lot more power. Lotus designed the original chassis:its adequate for the job and  importantly its light so that the complete vehicle is just within the legally permittted weight limit.

I agree. There really is no point trying to design a stronger chassis unles you were using a lot more power/adding a lot of weight.

Additionally the C5 already  has  the maximum legally permitted power.

If you're building a special c5 to take part in the AER and for use at Brooklands etc , then none of the legislative restrictions apply...thats what makes it sooo much fun  ;)
