I think I'll stay with the 1 speed gear on mine ::) :P :-[
-
I have seen it on a C5 and it looks quite complicated :( It has 2 chains as well doesn't it :-\
-
It's something I'd like to do and whilst I have a rough idea on the process (I've read the sites with it on etc), there are still a couple of bits I'm not sure of.
As always, I'll be watching the progress with my jaw firmly dragging on the floor as has works his magic.
-
The first one was hard to make ,But after 3 I think I will be ok ....'
Chas
-
Just done a little more work on the Sturmey Archer fitting .It may look a little rough at the moment but it will be tided up later after making sure that all fits and it will work
As you will see I have fitted a new bearing and washer + rubber seal on the axle ..

-
Chas : how easy/hard is it to move the cog on the axle? It's something I never even considered before.
-
Hi there it has to be grinded off then moved along and rewelded in place ...
Both chains now fitted
(http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af46/jordan8_2009/2-IMGP2971.jpg)
Now I know all works well now its time to strip it down and clean all the parts then reinstall them
-
just one photo today of the installation of the gear shifter cable ...As you can see the adjuster needs attention but will sort it out later ..
Just to let you know that the frame is not as it seems ..(to much flash light)
Also fitted a chain tensioner ...

I love the photos, it shows how easy (relative I know) it is to do. I suppose the hardest part is moving the cog, after that it looks fairly easy to do. If I ever find someone that can weld I might give it a go.
Looking great.
-
Yes it looks easy .Regarding the cog that is very easy .The hardest thing is getting the chains right and making the 3 speed gearbox to fit in the correct postion and the cable to fit. Also getting the 3 speed gearbox as they are about £80.00 to buy ..and the one I am using is a brand new one .
Any way let me know when you want to start making one I will help you ...
-
Looks great as always Chas. What a brilliant mod. They should have made them like this. Does it make them much easier to pedal?
I am really looking forward to seeing it finished.
Are those a stack of pods that are next to it? How many have you got?
-
In the pic I can see 6 :o
-
Yes it looks easy .Regarding the cog that is very easy .The hardest thing is getting the chains right and making the 3 speed gearbox to fit in the correct postion and the cable to fit. Also getting the 3 speed gearbox as they are about £60.00 to buy ..and the one I am using is a brand new one .
Any way let me know when you want to start making one I will help you ...
If you lived nearer (or I had a bigger car) I'd get a quote from you to add a 3 speed, disc brake and second motor :)
Hopefully, I'll have a shed to work in soon though - it ain't easy doing stuff in the back yard.,
-
Rearding the pods I have about 15 but not all of them work...and they are for restoring the C5s that I do ...
-
Regarding the 3 speed it is only to make it easier to peddle and it will be as this is my 4th 3 speed conversion .
-
Some more work done on the 3 speed c5.Stripped down the motor .Take a look it is in very good condition very little use on it .

There is still a lot of work to do on the body / wheel trims to get it some thing like . But as always there is a limit to how far you can go .
But this one is in very good condition ..as you will see when it is finished.
Forgot the mudflaps have been fitted and the brakes coupled up also the Pod is now in place ....
-
Amazing
How do you change gear?
-
Just a quick pull down on the changer on the right hand side of the handle bar ...
