Motor heats up FAST!

<< < (2/4) > >>

c5martin:
If the motor is hard to turn by hand and the bearings are free the permanent magnet is the place to look next.

Inside the outer casing of the motor everything is held in place with resin /glue.

The resin cracks and allows the inner part to move and obstruct the movement of motor armature.

If this has happened you will need to replace the motor outer casing. :(

I will post a youtube movie to let you guys see what is going on

waarsen:
OK here are the movies:

This show what my pod does, you can here the clicking sound from the relay.

This show that I cannot turn the rotor when I try to turn it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OF4rcuRZd54

I tried to connect the motor straight to the battery but just gives sparks. even if I hold it for a long time

HELPPPP!

ogb:

as you can see on the inside drawing the only parts that can obstruct the turning if you have removed the gearbox are the bearings front or back the rotor versus stator or the brushes
opening the motor (2 bolds) will give you an answer
my guess is one of the bearings

waarsen:
bearings seem to turn fine on both sides.

and brushes does not seem to be the problem also...

So must be status versus rotor....What to do next?
