Boot flats
« on: 13, January, 2013 - 09:04:30 »
Hi,

I got this picture off of the last topic "Sinclair C5 Cup 2012" for get about the tow hitch, but what are the flat bits at the bottom of the boot. I have seen on another C5 some reflective tape with some sort of code on, what dose the code mean.

Hi luke,

I think the flat areas on the boot were for the "number plates" 8) to stick too. When new, Sinclair sold as an extra sticky backed numbers and letters for you to make up your own number plate for the C5. I've seen the brouchure for these but never any fitted to a C5. Does anyone still have them fitted to theirs?

Yup, they're for the Sinclair personalised 'number plate. I have still seen them fitted to a couple of C5s on the forum. Below are pictures of the original card you sent off for the number plate, apologies for the quality they were taken with a tablet camera.

Is that legal? I'd have thought it can't be in the official font.

Like the idea but not for me.

I like C5s either very original or with a theme like Chas's Batmobile, or the Camouflage one.

Yeah all legal, as it a different size, and won't correspond to any real plate number, so even from a distance you would be able to tell its not a real one, also not reflective as a real number plate, looks good from picture, but its a sticker, so not solid. You can get ones that are black and white too, look similar to a front number plate (I only have the one on the back)
