Restoring a C5 and fitting a 8 speed hub

Hi I started this restoration a few months ago but put it on hold as I had a c5  to restore for a member

So here it is beaing restored starting with the body

 







Here is the serial number





Also has anyone seen this label on a C5






Ok now started the clean up
















As you can see its come up very nice but a lot of elbow grease but worth it

The next thing is to checkout the wiring harness ..




Hi here as you can see that I checked out the harness control. Box and the pod  before fitting the cable as it worked out all seems to be ok but as we know it will a few tests runs .anyway photos here

Well the harness seem to be ok so  fitted it into the tube on the body






Started to connect the wiring up for the the indicators and the horn






Temporary conected  the indicators to check to see if they work ...also connected the hazard warning switch

Startted on the indicators

















Now checking the indicators with my hazard warning switch Andj as You will ser them arę working great

Herę is the gearing that i must chainge to Work what i want .(4 lower then 4 above the standed C5 rangę )

OK nów for getting the gearing as i want it









Just fitted some old wheel so that i can check the the gearing ..after a while i managed to get what i wanted (4 speeds lower and 4 above the standed C5 gearing ) by chainging the front sprocket to a smaler  one also fitted a larger one on the hub

Now time to put the body on .Also fitted the motor/drive belt large drive cog brake grips and the gear twist grip ..









On a standed C5 The  pedals go round once and the wheels go around twice ....
But with the hub on gear 1  the pedals go around once and the wheels go around 1.10 times
           :  :              :   ::     2                                                                                        1.25. Times
                                        3.                                                                                       1.5.    Times
                                        4.                                                                                       1.6.   Times
                                       5.                                                                                        2.0.   Times
So on and so on

Control box wired up and tested ....






Next thing will be the back bar + the wheel trims will need cleaning then fitting a back brake  light .

Ok stickers  on the front and side now on also fitted the front wheel trims + the back bar cleaned sprayed and fitted

Now working on the back brake light










Now just got to fit it the bulb in the rear reflector ..



Ok I have now fitted the back light with a brake light .

Just cleaned the rear wheel trims but will not fit until the C5 has been on a few test runs
