MOSI - Manchester

The family outing to the MOSI at Manchester.

Great day out but disappointed with the state of one of the C5's (ground floor one). The one on the 1st floor was in a better condition.

Not exactly a shiny example. Sadly the c5 at The National Motor Museum is even worse  :-[

In their defence you'll probably find the staff rushed off their feet which is why I take care of the display C5 at Brooklands Museum. Maybe we could all look into taking care of our local museum c5's , like an adoption process  :D

Hi All

With the above conversation in mind I best go and check what Merthyr Museum's example of a C5 is looking like. It was in good condition but it's years since I've been there & maybe it's gone all finger print city and a bit shabby.

I will investigate & report in  ;D

Hi all,

I have had a response fom the MOSI:-

Hi Lance

Many thanks for your e-mail. We do indeed have two C5s in the collections here, one of which is used by the Public Programmes section on an infrequent basis as part of a 1980s costumed interpretation.

This C5 has suffered some ‘wear and tear’ issues, and I’d be more than happy to discuss with you the possibility of you undertaking some restoration work on it.

I will have a chat with him during the weekend and hopefully arrange some provisional lists of items that maybe required.
