Doesn't take a genius to work it out. ;)

Next time, perhaps consider using different language.

Whatever language it's said in it's still what I thought when I saw it  ;)

On a more serious note, everyone has different opinions when it comes to preservation. A guy I once knew had an old Bentley, 1940's thing. He loved telling people it was "completely original" until I asked him if he'd ever fitted new tyres. He said "Of course!", So I pointed out that it wasn't actually completely original. It's almost impossible to restore something and have it anything but ' looking' original, and I love what Dan's done with his computerised C5, Chas with his Batmobile, the list goes on BECAUSE they've kept the vehicles on the road rather than being left to rot. On the other hand, with just how scarce parts are, especially ULA chips, it makes my blood boil when someone does something like that to them on the basis that it's just meant that two people who were desperate for ULA chips to keep their C5' s on the road now can't because he's wrecked them to pass his college course.

I do find it interesting that he said he spent £3000 on it... that certainly wasn't on the steel frame and paint, which leads me to assume that the two C5's he used were reasonably high priced and therefore in good condition. I'd offer him £100 to see if there were any salvageable parts, but other than that he might just as well have taken a blow torch to the pair of them for the use they are now.

Spotted that on ebay .. certainly looks different  :D

Although i dont think he's planning on selling it via auction, as he says this  "This listing is for 99p and you will receive a Sinclair C5 bolt if you bid and win in line with eBays rules." , even though it's set up as an auction  :o

I wonder what would happen if the bids went over 99p ?

As an eye catching sculpture I think it's great and really like it.

I try not to get too precious over the fact that a couple of c5's have been chopped up because there are so many still out there , hence the reason they are not going up in value . As a c5 owner you should be chuffed that a few more are out the picture , it all helps push up the value of those that are left  ;)

Tongue is firmly in cheek for some of this posting, things were getting abit too heavy   ;D

Brilliant "robot" and bit of art.  I love it.

I disagree with that fact that he is only ebaying a bolt and not the whole think  -  A little too cheeky if you ask me.

How many people are in the club?

We could pledge money and make an offer.

I can see many other people being interested, he might take a stupid offer!

Simon.

I can't see there being a copyright issue, just change a few details.  It's not like you are making them to sell.

I've chatted with the guy that created this via email and he's quite complimentary about our website ,he even viewed it for help.

Whilst I'm sure he appreciates that his art work has sparked some debate I'd ask that contributors to this forum keep it civil and are a little more eloquent.

Constructive criticism is ok but nasty comments are not.

This forum is known for being helpful and also friendly which is a reputation I'd like to keep.

The comments have been "modded" accordingly.
