Opinions wanted...
« on: 09, February, 2013 - 19:58:46 »
I viewed a C5 earlier that I'm hopefully buying. It's a state, nasty shell, but has every extra possible including indicators. I've got an immaculate shell that I can put on it, but it's not drilled for indicators which makes it unusual! I've got one with all extras, another basic with no extras as they have a great contrast at shows. But would you fit the indicators? It's getting harder to find shells without holes now, so what's your opinions?

Hello.

If it was me I would fit all the extras to a good shell.

They don't seem too rare.  You can even buy boxed ones!

Nice try ;-) I like the point about non rarity, it's partly because of that, but partly because I'm wondering if there's much point of displaying a pair at shows both complete with all extras. Basic compared to all extras is great, but this one sits in a middle ground where it would be almost pointless taking two identical ones to shows. Which is why I'm in a quandary about it...

Personally (and only with the issues I am having trying to fill the "extra" holes my C5 has peppered into it), I would say don't make any new ones. Then again mirrors do look good on the C5.  :-\

I always wanted one with no extras which is what I got and won't be adding any.

Mines no way 100% mint as was quite rusty and had a battery cut off mounted on near side panel which I need to cover the hole where that was.

It's all down to personal choice though.

I bought a very good hardly used C5 without any holes drilled in it.

Since getting it I have been sourcing accessories and have started the drilling!

My personal opinion is that the accessories make it a more desirable and more interesting object as I think really they should have been fitted from new.  Most if them are for safety, this may have helped the C5 when in production.

As others have said its all about opinion. This is just mine.

All good points! Going back to my original statement though, do remember I already have on with every extra and one with none. I don't particularly need three, although it's nice to have ;-)

I think you have answered your own question.

You have one with all the extras and one without.

Why do you need another at all?

Because it's (a) going to be a birthday present from my wife, (b) pretty good value and (c) going to give me something to do as I'm out of projects at the moment :-) It's technically not for sale... You won't find it on Ebay etc, it's just one that we've managed to twist the arm of a local collector to sell us... I like projects, I'm just wondering what to do with it lol!

C5 body drills real easy, so just mark it up, use correct size drill. :)
