Coming along nicely...
« on: 09, June, 2010 - 09:51:55 »
This is a c5 I'm restoring, should be ready for re-sale later in the month ;

As you can see, I've set it up to run on just a relay - a copy of the setup I saw on a brand new C5 that had left the factory without a control box or pod. Towards the end of the production run when they must have ran out of bits  :-\. It will also be fitted with a battery monitor and have working lights.

This might sound a bit controversial, but I think this is the way forward. It builds in reliability and allows upgrades and modifications without worrying about damaging rare (and expensive) original components.

If it proves popular, I have the parts to make a few more  :)

All finished  8)

I really like the battery monitor, although installing it did involve chopping up a dead pod  :-\

The piccies;

This is a list of what’s been added/replaced/serviced etc;
Brand new set of tyres and inner tubes
Brand new brake cables and brake blocks
Brand new sticker decal set
Brand new genuine chain from Sinclair Vehicles
Chain “Anti-bounce” kit fitted
Two new LED bulbs
Sandblasted and repainted chassis components
Gearbox serviced
Motor serviced
New wiring loom incorporating modern battery monitor
Brand new 18mm drive belt

I've already got someone coming round to view it later in the week  :).

How much Karl?

Sorry mate - already sold. I delivered it today.

I liked this one so much I'm going to build another. The relay set up makes for such ease of use and reliabilty I'll probably go down this route with "moneypit" if the pod/control box ever fails.

The new owner is really chuffed with it and hopes to join us at Brooklands in September.

Could be done quite easily if there's any demand for it  :).

I've already received an enquiry for the next one I build , and I haven't started that one yet  8)

Karl hi. This is the best thing since sliced bread! Absolute fun! Many thanks

...looks like another c5 is providing the famous "c5 grin"

Thanks for this info, sounds good, and looks lot simpler to operate and run!

I would still keep the original attachments, as they can power the indicators and the pod for battry conditon...just dispense witht the cutout switch, and the thermocouple.

How much is the kit? I think it is worthewhile having some made and offering them anyway...
