antislip belt spray
« on: 29, July, 2010 - 14:55:23 »
Saw an aerosol in my local motor factors. Would this reduce the tendency to problems? I have had to adjust my new belt to the highest point on the gearbox cam after hardly any use to avoid the tendencty to slip, and once the belt has stretched that will mean it is too loose with no further adjustment possible.

That doesn't sound quite right, once it's properly set up it should be fine - certainly no need to continually adjust. "Voodoo" is running on 24v and hasn't needed a new belt or adjustment despite being abused at Santa Pod and Brooklands.

Has the motor slipped off the wall/tongue ?

Hi Karl,
Checked that first off and suspect that it was barely on the cam and the metal Sinclair bodge bar had moved.. When adjusting, I pushed the motor in the direction of the driven wheel to ensure definite engagement of gearbox with cam.
