Fancy a visit to Lotus ?
« on: 13, January, 2010 - 21:02:14 »
I've been in contact with Lotus to explore the possibility of holding a C5 meeting there - to include a lap, in the c5's , of their circuit.
www.lotusdrivingacademy.com

The lap of their circuit might be possible  but we would need to provide our own public liability insurance cover. There would be other costs depending on whether we want lunch, guided tour of the premises etc.

It would be a new venture for us in that we've never really staged an event before where we have to pay (c5-25 doesn't really count). As a stab in the dark guesstimate I reckon the minimum cost would be about £30 - dont forget you'll have to add on your own travelling costs etc.

Before I pursue this any further, the big question is : how many of us would be interested in this considering the costs involved ?

This was something I had already wanted to do, so its a yes from me, as long its on a day I can attend, would be really different  :)

..might need a few more people to make this viable  :-\.

I'll be phoning the events organiser next week to either continue or cancel this, depending on the number of replies we get on this thread.

Lotus are part of Brtish Racing heritage, so i'd be up for it as long as the date don't clash with holidays etc.

I've decided not to pursue this any further as we've already got three track based events booked for this year - Santa Pod (April), Mercedes Benz World (September) and the BVS electrathon (September).

The list of events for 2010 has also filled up quite rapidly so it would have been difficult trying to fit this in.

Maybe next year ?

with this years calender so quickly filling, perhaps equates to having the strength in C5alives membership. Lotus being so tied in to the C5 history and now back in Racing  :), perhaps it would be an idea to make events like Brooklands and Lotus  a 'main event' for next year on suggested dates well in advance.

members can then plan ahead for these 'can't miss' days, i know i don't want to miss out on either of them  ;D.
