wow  :o

Having only seen your C5 in its finished state, I had no idea what condition it was in when you started.

The end result is an absolute credit to you mate  8)

Hi, when i first removed the body from the frame i used cif, pan scrubbers a stiff brush, hot soapy water and i also used the steam cleaner at work, i think i cleaned it about four times. After the body was fitted i used steel wool with hot soapy water and this helped remove some of the scratches, but be careful not to remove the grain on the body, each time i clean it i use cif and hot water, this seems to do the trick.
Thanks for asking.

My chain has started to come off when i pedal at speed, everything seems to be in place, when i start to move off (pedal only) it sounds rough. Could this be the chain has stretched slightly ?

It does sound like the chain is the culprit.

Just to make sure, check the rear sprokect is not seized & that the chain tensioner is still there and working properly. Any play in the front sprocket/pedals ?

You are right in that chains do wear out, how old is yours ?

..that is a seriously cheap chain  :o , at that price it's such a bargain it won't matter if you replace it every year  ;)

I have put another chain on, but its no better, if i take a link out its very tight, and without removing any links the chain jumps off the tensioner when i pedal, i'm not sure if the tensioner is worn or not, could this cause the problem ?

Is everything properly aligned ?

Also, be careful not to over tighten the chain - the rear axles are hollow and have been known to bend.

Another possibility is that the tensioner clips may have split allowing sideways movement of the tensioner.

It sounds  like this could be the cause, i am sure that the problem started about two weeks ago when i was coming home from work, i heard a noise and the chain had slipped off the tensioner, it has been jumping off since, so it makes sense. Does Martin still make his clips
