Hi all
I've been lurking on here for several years but I'm now seriously considering a C5 as I want to get fitter, but I have limitations due to severe balance loss.
So, some form of recumbent trike is ideal, and as I live in a reasonably hilly area, power assist is a definite plus until I get the leg muscles working, and as well as being a funky piece of kit (I used to hire them as a teenager), they are a lot cheaper than electric trikes!
The one thing that I don't know the answer to is whether someone 6ft2 will be able to pedal comfortably in one (I was a lot shorter in '85!) as the pedals can't be adjusted.
I've answered most of the other questions I had using the search, but not this one, so I'd appreciate any advice.

I hate to sound negative, but I think anyone over 6ft will struggle to fit comfortably. Pedalling may be a challenge !
Sadly one size does not fit all.

Where abouts are you, as you are more than welcome to have a sit and try mine out for size before you buy one if you are close ?

You can try my C5 too if north Leeds is any nearer for you, but, I am only 5'7" and my toes scrape the front as I am pedalling. If you live in a hilly area as I do, you will be pedalling most of the time,as the gradients the motor alone will not cope with steep gradients

Thanks for that. There's one I'm watching on eBay a the moment that can be viewed, so I might arrange to try that. If not, I might take you up on your kind offer (the missus has been hinting at a trip to Leeds for some shopping anyway).

If all else fails you could get any upright tricycle like a Pashley one and convert that to an Ebike with a kit.

To be honest, I have been considering that option, but a couple of things are stopping me :
A C5 is cheaper, even if I have to do some refurb on it. The conversion kits I've found aren't cheap (usually way more than a C5, just for the kit).
It's a recumbent, so it's more stable. That's a big plus for me as I have an illness that means I have very bad balance, deteriorating to no balance at all (obviously I wouldn't be riding when that bad :) ).
It is looking more and more like an upright or recumbent manual are going to be the only alternatives, but it really is a shame as I've wanted a C5 since they were launched!

How handy are you?
There are plans on http://www.atomiczombie.com/ to build them them, I've starting stripping a couple of scrap bikes for the project. My C5 is great, but it's a bit slow, need more speed, and one of these Timberwolf trikes looks the business.
I'm going to build it without a motor to start with and see how it goes.

There are indeed. I've never used a welder before, but I'm tempted to learn how. I wonder how difficult the build is for someone with absolutely no DIY skills (I can't even put a shelf up properly!).
Still not a real substitute for a beige beauty like the C5, but maybe a decent compromise.

I have just had some one use mine for filming an he is a slim, 6' 3".

That sounds ideal (and extremely generous, as are the other offers) as I could even catch the bus if needed.
Do you know how the person that used it found the C5, given their height? I'm not exactly slim, but I am a tad shorter!
I'm traveling for the next few days, but after that I'll reply again to see if I could arrange something with you at your convenience.

Hi, the only issue he had was that he wore very slippy shoes and not something like trainers,
so his feet slipped off a few times off the pedels.
