Hello there, first time C5 owner. I've been a big Sinclair fan since the spectrums in the 80's. Currently pottering about with some QL's.
I finally saw a C5 locally in the North East at a bargain price and couldn't resist. An early xmas treat. It needs a fair bit of work and a damn good clean, should be good fun. ;D

That one looks in pretty good condition and will look great after a bit of a clean.

County Durham area. Most of the wiring is none existent and there's no battery, pod or ignition system etc. It does have the motor though and the control box underneath.
Can't wait for the weekend to see what's what. So far I know it's an 85 model made in Feb.

You can always use the single relay method to get it going.
I am sure someone will send you the link on here , i couldn't find it.

Think you got a bargain there for £130.00 to far away for me but like plod says theres alot of helpfull advice and people on here welcome to the c5 world marc.

The first job will be a scrub down using a mild solution of water and Bilt Hambers Surfex HD. Which is a great biodegradable degreaser and cleaner.

What condition is the chassis in? I bet it will need a thorough wire-brushing then painting with Fertan and then re-finishing in Hammerite smooth grey or similar

It doen't look too bad but it will need a wire brush off. I'll be using Bilt Hambers Electrox zinc primer, then a random top coat then Dinitrol 445 which is like a matt finish plastic anti stone chip coating. It's worked well on other projects.

I bought mine a few weeks ago also without the electronics. Just the engine and the connection with the battery. It works fine like that. If you like I can send you some pictures how it is connected

The Black (minus) cable is connected to the side of the engine and is split so you have another black (negative) wire, for the lights, horn, etc.)

The red batterycable is connected to the control box

The upper left red wire is also connected to the left under connector, (the red connector wire with the blue band). And the yellow wire (right under)goes to the other side of the power-on button( as a return from the grey one) on the steer. On the right up side of the control box is the connection wire to the positive pole of your engine.

Remember, I did not make this myself, I just give you the pictures to show you how it is connected in my old C5.
Anybody with more understanding of this matter is welcome to reply or clarify. Better before you try it ;D
