18th July 2010 - M&Ms mk run revisited!
« on: 04, July, 2010 - 15:53:09 »
Radiomarty, Matt and myself will be trying the mk cycle route again on sunday the 18th July.

So far I've completed about 75% of the route using google maps so hopefully we can complete that and do the full round trip!

If anybody wishes to join us you will be more than welcome! Should be a good day out!

Attendees so far:

Radiomarty + Matt
MikeDX + 1 (maybe)

I'm happy to put this on the calendar and in the meetings and events section if you like , or would you prefer this to be kept more low key as a planning run for next years meeting ?

As we struggled a little with the route we have decided to visit it again before next years offical run to try to get better aquainted with it !!!. By next year we will have cracked it - I hope.

Don't forget to put some piccies up from your run  8)

You might need to put a meeting point and time on here for anyone else that wants to come along.

Fingers crossed you enjoy some nice warm weather like before  :)

Ah that would be lovely if we had similar weather - certainly keep our fingers crossed for it!

Right, I'll have a chat to Martin and see how we want to do it and update the details here! Definitely  get some pics of the meet, and maybe even a video!

Thanks for putting the post on the events page :)

Hey John

Would be great to see you there!

I'm just waiting to hear back from Radimarty about times, but I would say between 9:30 and 10!

The information posted previously is as follows:

Hi all this event has come around quick, so time for an update:

The meeting time will be 10am at the Premier Inn car park which is in the Willen Lake complex. For those using Sat Nav the post code is MK15 0DS. The car park is located off the Lakeside roundabout which has plenty of parking unfortunately there is a charge of £2 up to 4 hours , £3 up to 8 hours - please note they have active parking attendants ! For those with trailers there are limited bay's but I have checked and we can use the grass verges so see me on the day and we will park you up safe.

The run itself is mainly tarmacked 'red routes' and under passes but I must confess it's a rabbit warren with path's going everywhere. I have visited twice now and had a great reception from the local's on many occasion's but have not yet managed to do the full route as I think you need a degree in map reading to work the guide out (or I'm just stupid!). So this is where the fun starts - what I am proposing is we do this run annually like some of the others and each year we plan to get further round it until we have completed it. We can try and pull our resources and crack it together.
Should prevent it becoming stale.

If you are wanting to eat there is pub grub (2 for £10) type place at the lakeside itself. For those with families there are play areas suitable for young children and older, a climbing ropes activity area (which you would need to book on 0845 6521736, I would advise the low ropes course unless you are Tarzan) and a coffee shop.

So should be a fun day-

Those wanting to attend please post your names so we don't leave anyone behind - hope to see you there regards Radiomarty

Willen Lake, V10 Brickhill Street, Milton Keynes, MK15 0DS

Meeting point :

The sign you need to turn by at the carpark entrance

I should be able to finish the map and post a link up here so you can see the route :)

Just finished the whole route on google maps! There is an app for my android phone which lets me follow the route via gps. Optionally at the end we could do a circuit of the lake.

Hopefully the following link works:

If anybody wants to help tweak the map, please let me know and i'll give you read / write access!
