Brake Cable

(1/2) > >>

USA-C5-Owner:
My rear brake cable snapped from the handle.  Is this repairable or do I need another cable?  Is this cable universal or is there a special cable I need tp purchase to use on the C5?  Thanks for any help on this.

Same happened to me and I used a standard bicycle one.

Update:

I replaced both cables.  The front brake cable went very well.  I spaced the brake pads 1/8" away from the front tire and now the front brake works very well and grabs tight.

The problem is on the back cable.  After cable installation, when I pull the hand brake, the cable pulls the rear lever, but the movement is not enough to make the rear braking usable.  The "offset" lobe in the drum brake dosn't turn enough to make contact.  I can turn the lever with my hand and all works well, but using the hand-brake on the handlebar does little.   Where am I going wrong on this?

Hi Adam,

I had the same problem with my road bike. With no pressure on the hand brake lever, pull the brake cable until tensioned, then apply pressure to the brake lever (wheel end) until the brake starts to bind, back-off a little, then tighten the clamp.

This should do it.
