Sunday 5th July 2009 - Brighton Run 3 (now moved to Crawley)
« on: 26, December, 2008 - 11:33:54 »
A day out at the seaside 3 ;D

Same as last years run.
Meet at the Hove end and take a gentle trundle along to the Brighton Marina.
Turn around and trundling back again.
Not before a McDonald's drive through.

and an ice cream or two. ;)

Don't forget the sun cream  ::)

A fairly short & leisurely route, completely flat!

Martin spotted that the BVS London-Brighton run is being held on 4/5th July, so we've altered the date of our Brighton run. This way we can meet up with them at their finish point  8)

There is also the possibility of the G-Wiz owners club meeting up for this as well  8)

Could be quite a gathering  ;D

Just a reminder this coming Sunday is the Brighton run .

I've spoken with John from the BVS who confirms they are still holding their London-Brighton run ,but have moved the finish point to the Scout Hut in Manor Road (off Edward St) ,Brighton.

There is also a Motorcycle Event being held at the Brighton Marina , which we could also visit if we want to.

Probably best to disregard the Edward Street bit, the rest seems ok :D

If anyone is interested, we have been invited to meet up with the BVS at lunchtime and join them for a buffet  while they take a much deserved rest at Handcross :)

There is also the option of joining in the final section of their run, but this would make it difficult to do our own planned run along the seafront. We could do both, but it would make a long day of it.

It's nice to be invited, but it would require altering our original plans (meeting time & route etc).

Does anyone wish to do this ?

As I mentioned earlier, the Battery Vehicle Society has invited us to a free lunch at Handcross plus the option of taking part in the final leg of their London-Brighton run. They suggested we start at the top of Ditchling Beacon and ride down the hill into Brighton with some of their vehicles.

Having talked this over with Martin and Scott, I've chosen to continue with the original plan of a C5 run along the coast on the cycle paths. Hopefully we can get as far as the marina, depends on the size and location of the motorcycle festival taking place. The BVS finish point is near to the marina, so we can always go along and meet them later in the afternoon.

We intend to start at around 1030ish by the lagoon, near the King Alfred Leisure Centre. However, if the weather is hot then we may have to relocate further along to the Shoreham end. As you'd expect, Brighton in the sunshine is a very busy place so we may need to get away from the crowds and the popular beaches in order to find adequate parking.
