Title: Re-using genuine Sinclair battery chargers
Post by: Karl on 03, March, 2009 - 10:12:39
Once all my C5's were converted to c5alive wiring kits, and therefore use leisure/car batteries, it meant the genuine Sinclair chargers had to be adapted if I still wanted to use them  :)

The Sinclair chargers are still good chargers - a bit like a forerunner of an Optimate (or similar) , but they are getting old. I tend to only use them when I'm around and never leave them unattended , just to be safe  ;)

Apologies to those that have seen this before...

karl,

Inside the charger there are two diodes that make up a halfwave rectifier (I think) these are open circuit in my unit. Do you know what type they are ?

..afraid not mate, I've never taken one apart  :-\

..I'll see Martin at the next meeting and can ask if he knows, it might be worth dropping him an email ?
