Title: Mud Flaps in the C5 Accessories catalogue
Post by: POZE on 25, April, 2011 - 08:29:16
Hi all
Dont know if this has been covered on the forums before or if anyone knows.

In the Accessories catalogue the mud flaps are actually curved plastic, not the rubber type that I've always seen fitted.   Does anyone have a C5 with the curved ones fitted or any pics/descriptions etc?  Are these ultra rare or just never produced i wonder.Maybe they realised that when people lift the front end to maybe turn it around or wheel it onto drive then they would have hit the floor and probably rubbed badly or maybe broke.

I'm keen to know if its a really rare thing and what they look like basically

Cheers,

my guess is that they didn't have the rubbber ones ready so they used plastic prototypes. they used a prototype c5 in the pictures aswell (which was made from different material to the ones we all have)

poze, those were never produced for the c5 at all. the ones in the catalogue were actually made from wood and were just a mock up. maybe we should organise a limited production run  ;)

Ah, very interesting!
You would imagine that people might have complained or queried that they received bits of flat rubber rather than what was imaged in the catalogue.

I like the idea of the curved one, but slightly worry that it would catch the ground and possibly snap easier if i lift up the front to turn it or roll it into the garage etc.

pretty cool to have a set though!!

I've stopped fitting the mudflaps to my own c5's due to the damage caused when we transport them to the various shows, runs etc. Easier to store the c5 upright without them.

How come you dont sell them any more Karl?

Mixture of reasons, same as with a few other things that have dropped off the shop side,  either been too busy to make them or simply a lack of demand.

I see time is expensive these days! You wouldn't have a set of used ones spare would you?

They crop up on ebay now and then. I've just won the bidding on a set of originals in nice condition. Hopefully getting them delivered tomorrow.  :)

I guess you must have far better contacts than me then. I have to rely on ebay where I haven't even seen a bare body shell fetch less than £50.  :(
