By Law in Holland the Sinclair is officially a E-Bike. That means, you can drive it on bicycle roads etc with a max speed of 25 km's/hr. The first 6 km's it may work on the engine only, but after that the engine should be pedaling supporting. So building in a 7 gear shimano is a good option, youre otherwise pedaling your butt off.  .
Hope to see your creation on the First International Sinclair C5 meeting in juli this year in Zutphen.
In fact, no policeman that ever stopped me, even knows the sinclair c5.  Its a bike, its electric as well. No problem. They have a smile on their face and ask where you can buy one.

It's a 24 Volt 750 Watts AMT Motor and it fits like a glove. :-)

@Frankev:

I think the Sinclair with a 750W motor could be seen as a 'snorfiets' on 3 wheels in the Netherlands and follow 'snorfiets'-regulations for them. This will probably mean a obligatory insurance.

Does anybody have any ideas about this?

Bought it complete of the Internet for 300,- euros. Manufacturer is AMT, a german manufacturer. They produce this as a set. Diff+Motor.

If your interested, I can ask the guy who sold it to me, has some more.

Hi just a quick question:

How you are going to incorperate the pedle chain cog that is normally in the centre of the rear axle or is this just electric powered?

:-) Good question........ I won't.

This C5 will be electrical powered only. The motor should be powerfull enough to drive 20-25 km/h, without the help of pedals.

There is also a built-in brake which is operated automatically by the Motor controller, when the 'throttle' is closed, but just to be sure I want to build a disc-brake on the front wheels.
