"Alphaline 063 12v 44ah Heavy Duty Car Battery" £38.95

I bought this battery of Amazon as it was well priced and had 6 x 5 star reviews. It even has a 4 year warranty!

It hasn't been a disappointment. Though the cold weather has had a notable impact, during the warmer months I got a good 25 miles out of it in one go (albeit on a flat run with plenty of peddling). I even had a few bars left on the Pod. It's small and light enough, and I have absolutely no complaints.

I'll be interested to see how easy it is get a replacement on warranty when it eventually wears out.

Didn't even notice that - any idea what it does?

Apparently its a charge level indicator, could be quite usefull if you have a faulty pod or dont trust the readout on the pod

I remember a Vauxhall Carlton I owned quite a few years back had a similar feature in that its battery had a visual check facility for you to see if it was in good health or not  , looking back I don't think it really worked too well though  :-\

Karls got it dead on.  I had a look and it was a health indicator. Still lovely and green  ;D

Don't be too fooled with the green battery indicator built in the battery as I have a 85 AHr leisure battery with the same type of indicator but it only lasts about 1.5-2 miles if that. These indicators are only to say that the battery is topped up and has some charge, it does not indicate full charge(approx 12v and not 13.4v at full charge).

4yr warranty!   As long as you never tell them its going in a c5.

I get New 063 bats from Part-co at £30 as they know its going in a c5 and they tell me i will void the warranty.  Due to the plate damage.

Karl

Umpa found the Halfords battery warranty to be worthless in that they simply did a voltage drop test and declared the battery healthy , even when it was clearly failing .

Hopefully these guys will be more helpful as they are an Amazon seller and won't want the negative feedback.
