I have a spare key block, but I still use the key for the boot.
Is that the same thing?

..the battery top is the large grey rectagular plastic "cap" that fits over the battery, the bit that you connect the keyswitch assembly to.

Yes I have one of those with the strapping and key block - no key unless you want to take a copy of mine.
