Thanks for the info frankev

I think I'm ok with the chassis now I've wirebit-ed it down with a powertool and coated it with antirust coating.

My only main issue now is that the break side wheel sticks out a bit compared to the motor side

After I've sorted that out it's then onto the pod, boot and then getting a front break and wheel cover

Hey everyone, need a little help  :-\

it seems that the control box has got jammed on the motor enable position, scared the life out of me when i was driving it up the drive and i couldn't stop lol :o

Is it likely that the relay has got jammed in the on position and has anyone else here had the same problem?

Karl

Is the thumb switch getting pressed by the handlebar grip ?

radiomarty

Hi as Boo Boo says check the switch - if not a known fault is for D1 in the control box to fail causing damage to the relay ie the contacts weld themselves together - you can carefully open the relay case and check the contacts clean them or replace the relay (standard item) also check D1 very cheap to replace - regard Radiomarty

it turned out to be D1 after all!, relay was fine but because the diode had burnt out it caused the board to burn in places making dodgy connections which i fixed today.

ok next question

I need a front break as for some reason it was completely removed on my C5, does anyone have a spare or is their a new alternative i can go out and buy?

UPDATE:

After close inspection, the chassis is a little bent causing the break side wheel to stick out further than the motor side wheel

I will be spending this weekend putting it back into position, if not then i will have to either get a new one or get it serviced, anyone still servicing the C5s at a decent price? (this would also kill multiple birds with one stone if i got it serviced :))

Excellent example of improvise adapt and overcome , proud of you mate - if that front wheel is steel I'd be tempted to use that as well  ;D

ello again everyone  :)

today @ work I made a new motor enable switch for the new brake lever set I am fitting to the C5, its a simple clicky red button type push to make using the existing cables and I have set it into an IC packaging holder (we have thousands of them at work waiting to be chucked away). I melted parts of the IC holder for it to sit nicely on the brake lever bracket and glue gunned it all in place and its sturdy as rock :)

Pics:

UPDATE:

I found out what was wrong with my pod, someone had bent one of the pins, dunno why  ???

bent it back into position and hey presto!.... a fully functional pod!

so I have all of my electrics working now, all brakes / levers fitted and fully functioning. The only things left are getting a better boot and a front wheel cover then it should look 100% complete  ;D (if you don't look at the chassis coz its a bit bent)

coverman

Vehicle won't track true if the chassis is bent. You'll use extra energy to propel it , as it will be steering constantly in a straight line.
