Vehicle won't track true if the chassis is bent. You'll use extra energy to propel it , as it will be steering constantly in a straight line.

Unortunatly I can't get it back into position :'(, I need to either get a new chassis from someone in the UK or get it serviced by the nearest servicer to me (I am in the Bournemouth area)

Karl

I'd take it out for a couple of test rides first and see if there are any adverse effects from the chassis damage. If not, simply ignore it and enjoy the ride  ;D Should there be any probems it can be sorted  :)

Ive just taken it out for a brief run around the block, did a test while in the middle of a flat road and let go of the handlebars and their was no swerving or slight steering to the left or right  ;D

also managed to get it to go quite fast using the 'pedelec' method and didn't require too much energy so all good on that front.

Therefore I am going to ignore it and I am very much enjoying the ride and the funny looks i get from people  ;D

however on the left set of LEDs on the pod, its functioning as far as a red LED lights up when I push the power button but isn't it supposed to go through yellow to green while using the pedals at the same time  ???

Hi All

Ive managed to purchase a chassis off marra from this forum. Therefore I have stripped down my c5 in preperation for the new chassis to turn up.

Pics:

This photo shows just how badly bent the chassis was:

The chassis has certainly been modified, I imagine it originally bent in the usual "elbow" section on the brake side so the previous owner straightened it and tried to strengthen it at the same time.

Hey All

My new chassis from marra turned up today and I have spent most of my evening rebuilding most of my C5 with the new chassis. below are some pics:

The new Chassis:

The body on the chassis but very grubby as I ended up with very very greasy and oily hands  :P:

A cool little compass I got from halfords that looks quite nice on the c5:

indeed it was, forgot to mention that, many thanks marra :)

ive taken it out for a spin and its a much smoother ride than the old bent chassis!.

when pedaling i heard a clunk and the chain slipped off, after inspection i found out that the chain tensioner had moved out of position (ive been battling with it for hours tonight before taking it out for the spin, bloody y retainer has worn out  :-[, therefore i will be ordering a new one from the shop )

I am very pleased with the chassis and A frame marra  ;D!

I have 2 things left to sort out now which is the Boot and the pod (some of you may have seen my post in the C5 support section).

I have taken 2 photos of the boot just to show you how rubbishy the boot that I got with the c5 is.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/59177467@N07/5509322141/in/photostream/

as you can see on the last of the 2 photos that my boot isn't actually a 'boot' as it only protects the inside from weather  :'( but I hope to source one down soon

Retro Andy

Hope you find a boot mate, it will really finish it off for you, you have done a nice job getting your C5 back on the road.
