Could not resist to build a 2 pin flasher so I searched the web and tried two designs: a transistor based flasher and a power FET based one. The transistor based one was very frequency dependent on the load, the FET based version worked much better and after some experimentation I came up with the following circuit:

The board can be put in series with the positive cable to the indicator switch (central pin) and functions just as the thermo-electric two pin flasher. I tested the circuit with the LED indicators and also with a 20 Watt halogen lamp and it works equally well.

Because of the low on-resistance of the FET it needs no cooling. The duty cycle can be varied with the capacitors and the 180k resistor (I had already put in a 220k and added a 470k in parallel and the flashing duty cycle is quite good but a 180k would probably make it just right..)

The front 'pods' finally came in, mounted them together with the mirrors this Sunday. Meanwhile the battery was charging from an abundance of solar energy...





Although the brightness of the pods is good the viewing angle isn't... But in the dark they are quite visible..  ;D

Next step: pedelec sensor...

Try searching for 'led pod' on eBay (for the pods that is)

The pedelec sensor (or dutch: 'trapsensor') is available from all kinds of webshops and searching on ebay on 'pedelec sensor' gives also a lot of results.

Mind though: you need to add electronics to enable/inhibit the C5 motor relay as the sensor is just that: a sensor to detect that you are pedaling.

hi there,
actually you dont need expensive sensors around your wheels, I just got cheap reed switches and mounted them with hot glue. Then I took neodenium magnets to trigger the switches and it works great! You can keep it simple! Gonna post some pictures tomorrow!

Actually the sensor and magnet disc I bought were just EUR. 7,50

looks very nice indeed! :-) I just took normal reed switches and glued magnets on the big metal wheel that spins with the right wheel - Worked perfectly fine! :-) Yours looks more professional but both do the job! :-)
