Hi All,
Connected the new C5 to a battery this morning and surprise surprise not a flicker of life.I cracked open the control box and
found that someone had got at it !!
Instead of replacing a couple of components the last owner has been cutting and splicing his little heart out .
The upshot of which is
...R1 is blown...now replaced with a spare i had.
...D1 is blown ... part ordered at Maplins for collection tomorrow ..(Many thanks to RadioMarty for listing the Maplin part no.)
... Voltage regulator Lm342 is suspect, i can't check voltages until i have fitted D1.. but i do have a spare if needed..
THE PROBLEM IS ...the previous owner has been cutting and moving wires from the relay and i don't know where they should be !
The relay numbers are as follows ...
"85" bottom/middle position ..  has been cut and goes nowhere !!
"30" left side/half way up.. goes to the positive 12V supply ..that's looks fine !
" ?"  Right side/half way up .. VERY large black negative to the right hand-side of a "heat sink"
"?"   Top/middle .. ???This goes to the left hand-side of the "heat sink" and a VERY dodgy splice branch's it to X11
I then have a RED wire of the same Negative ??? "heat sink" going to X10 ???
I had a quick look at the schematic but quite frankly it baffles me .
Has anyone some pics they could post so i can put the correct wires where they should be ?
Thanks

Hi - this is quite common and is done when the control box fails -what they have done is used the relay only to drive the motor when pressing the go switch and bypassed the rest of the circuit - I will dig out a photo and post it - also check all the wires going to X8 - Marty

Hi thanks for the pics..
2 wires have been cut on X8 , Yellow and Grey but as these were cut 2-3" away from the connector block there is enough room to
re-connect/re-solder  them.
I didn't realize how many wires  had been moved  until you posted the pics !
Again MANY THANKS Marty
