pod lights, what does it mean?

Hi Folks,
I understand the right hand side lights are like a fuel gauge with reduced illumination of the led's as you use up the battery 'til finally it beeps and stops.
What does the left hand side led's do? What do they mean? I understand its about efficiency of the power useage, showing light load or heavy load as going up an incline..........  but how do you read the information/led's??
