C5 ENTHUSIAST + RESTORER

I.v just started a new restoration project .Picked the C5 up a few weeks ago and it was in very good condition apart from slight pitting on the chassis .So rather than leave it as it was I decided to do a complete stripdown .It was told that it was only used for about an hour then stored until now .It's the best I've seen for ages .Anyway take a look at it after cleaning the body and the chassis..
More photos to follow later in the week

Yes it will be a great C5 when restored ...Just checked the serial plate and the date is an early one .It was Nov 1984 no 644 built before the launch date .Not many left from this year.....

Looks a really nice one, well done at keep the pictures of progress coming.

Doesn't seem to have had much usage, once you've finished that one Chas it will make a really nice C5 for its new owner  ;)

Did a little rebuilding today check out the photos ..also striped down the motor ready for greasing the bearings and removing the old grease from the gearbox and replacing it .
You can see from the photos that it has very little use.
Just check out the teeth on the gearbox ..
More phots to follow .

Next thing is to repack the gearbox with grease and clean the motor body ....

Well not much doing out side so decided to rebuild the motor .First of all cleaned out the inside of the motor (dust etc ) then added a small amount of grease on the back and front bearings .Then got rid of the old grease from the gearbox cleaned it then applied some new ..Then as you can see built it back up ready to put it back on the frame .

Your really cracking on with things, it certainly is a nice C5.

Just a few photos of the body build up .   Also fitted a new 18 mm belt

Not long now before a test run ...

Retro Andy

That is so nice, I dont think I've seen one put back together so fast or upside down, looks a lot easy than when its on its wheels, I do it this way next time (upside down, not as fast  :D)

Well I always put the frame back on with the body up sidedown as long as the body is supported .

What I am going to do is leave the battery connector top with the key in .Then connect a second set of power cables to the control box and take them through the other side of the body and fit quick release battery clamps ,so if wanted you could use either side or both for extra mileage..........

Just finished re greasing and putting on the pedals/handle bars/front/back brakes grips + calipers .Now it wants a clean . Then I need to check out the electronics Although should be OK ??? fingers crossed but I have noticed that the control box has not tampered with ...
