Chain Tensioner Retaining Clip
« on: 27, September, 2012 - 18:44:07 »
At last, the first four of my many questions.  :)

On the C5 that I've just aquired the chain tensioner retaining clip is missing, the tensioner is held in place with a piece of foam padding. Needless to say the tensioner doesn't function as it should.

1. Are these clips still available?
2, If yes, where can I obtain one?
3. If no, has anyone a spare that they are prerared to sell?
4. Should there be nothing available, can anyone supply me with an accurate drawing of the clip whereby I can make one?

So here's hoping for all of your positive answers.  ::)

Hi Chas,

there is a white plasic part fitted to the tensioner arm, so I assume there there must be a clip that attaches to the chassis. The part I'm looking for is for the chassis.

  • 4 legs may be better than 2 but 3 wheels better then anything!

My C5 was missing this part too, you are welcome to the one I made as a temp until you can source the original, perhaps this is another part that MikeDX could produce with his 3D printer, I would buy some for spares

Hi Pep,

many thanks for your kind offer.

There's no rush, bike won't be on the road until spring next year, plus I'm on the other side of the ditch.

I have no idea what the thing looks like, were it's located etc. In The Parts List it's shown as a black dot, I can make a black dot, but I'm shure it's not going to work.  :D Even a photo of the item in situ (unobstucted by the tensioner) would do.

Cheers. Karl.

Hi Plod,

these are the new units from Chas, he pointed out that the mounting is not compatible to the oringinal. I have an original.

I now know how the original was mounted, so I can make my own unit.  8)

Anyway thanks for trying to help.

Cheers. KarlG.
