I fancy taking a look at those concrete cows and other tourist attractions in Milton Keynes ;D. There is a circular 15mile route designed as a sight seeing tour for cyclists which should be suitable, I've found it on the MK Heritage website;
http://www.mkweb.co.uk/cycling/documents/MK_City_Wide_Circular.PDF
Never having been to this neck of the woods before it should be an interesting run out.
Anyone else up for this ?
-
The blurb for this run looks good and always interesting to go to new places.
Sign me up. :)
-
Just up the road and my old stumpping ground - count me and Matt in.
-
Sounds good, dont like the journey though, but worth it.
-
Looks like a great run, will have to let you know if its one I can get too, It does look like a great day out.
Retro Andy
-
Maybe the full 15miles may be pushing it a bit for some of our batteries?
Or we may end up pushing,LOL
A slightly shorter route could be arranged.
Unless, someone has found a cheep sauce of gell batteries???
He said wishfully.
-
15miles is roughly the same as c5martins Horsham run, so we know it can be done.
I'm told by some colleagues that live there that this Milton Keynes route is also quite flat - so a healthy set of batteries should be up to the job ;)
I'll probably take a wobble up to Milton Keynes to check out some of the route in the new Year just to make sure its all good :)
-
Just checked and the Mini L2B is the weekend before, so should be good for this one ;D
Daz
-
i can possibly make this one,

we might not need those big batteries -:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/government-puts-up-16330m-for-electric-car-chargers-1911238.html
is it worth telling MK Council of our run and ask for normal booster chargers please? ;D

I would be up for this with or without my C5 as it is only down the road from me and i know the area.
See you there!
-
Is this meet a go-er? :) Nudge Nudge wink wink
-
I would have liked to attend if it is, but this is the only weekend my wife can book a Saturday morning off in May or June and we are going to Legoland for the weekend with the kids, I hope it does as it looks like a really good route.

Yep - still some planning going on "behind the scenes" ,but looking good so far 8)
-
Matt and Radio Marty have taken over the organisation of this run 8)
Some more updates later ;)
-
I will be taking Goldfinger and Archie to check the route out / parking etc next weekend so will be posting more info ASAP
-
If I dont get a C5 soon, I'll be missing out :(

Hi all this event has come around quick, so time for an update:
The meeting time will be 10am at the Premier Inn car park which is in the Willen Lake complex. For those using Sat Nav the post code is MK15 0DS. The car park is located off the Lakeside roundabout which has plenty of parking unfortunately there is a charge of £2 up to 4 hours , £3 up to 8 hours - please note they have active parking attendants ! For those with trailers there are limited bay's but I have checked and we can use the grass verges so see me on the day and we will park you up safe.
The run itself is mainly tarmacked 'red routes' and under passes but I must confess it's a rabbit warren with path's going everywhere. I have visited twice now and had a great reception from the local's on many occasion's but have not yet managed to do the full route as I think you need a degree in map reading to work the guide out (or I'm just stupid!). So this is where the fun starts - what I am proposing is we do this run annually like some of the others and each year we plan to get further round it until we have completed it. We can try and pull our resources and crack it together.
Should prevent it becoming stale.
If you are wanting to eat there is pub grub (2 for £10) type place at the lakeside itself. For those with families there are play areas suitable for young children and older, a climbing ropes activity area (which you would need to book on 0845 6521736, I would advise the low ropes course unless you are Tarzan) and a coffee shop.
So should be a fun day-
Those wanting to attend please post your names so we don't leave anyone behind - hope to see you there regards Radiomarty

thanks for letting us know Alan

If we were to start / finish at furzton lake, I could arrange free parking ;)
-
Hi Mike - Thanks for that but I have made all the arrangements now and as the fee's are not too bad I think we will stick with it this time- however we can have a chat on the day and sort it for the following years run's which would be great. PS I'm hoping your coming along as your local knowledge will be most helpful and it would be good to meet you. Have you managed to get a C5 yet ? (come along even if you haven't and say hi or bring a bike ?)
-
I should be there .. will confirm for definete in a few days.
Best sort my brakes out, otherwise i'll end up in the water :D

I haven't managed to get a C5 yet :( It's not looking likely either! I might turn up at the start / end and say hi though. Not sure about a bike.. I could get an A-Bike I guess :) let me think about that one.
-
I've just had a very interesting phone conversation regarding this run - there might be some filming at the event (other than Umpa with his camcorder 8)).
I'll let you know how things develop - this is just a heads up so you can get your c5 nice and clean ;D
-
I am hoping to make this one, looks great.
-
Hoping to make this one and have just bought some new wheel bearings from Chas so hopefully will make it around without sounding like a cheese grater.
Looking forward to catching up with you all.
Kurt.
-
Great news guy's should be a good one
-
me and the mrs live 10mins by C5 from there. So will come on both of ours.
look forward to seeing everyone
Steve & Vicky
-
...looks as though there might be the possibility of us having the largest gathering of C5's ever at a C5alive run 8)
-
Fantastic stuff - the gathering so far (in no particular order) :
Radiomarty
Mattc5
Boo Boo
Noo Noo
Steve and Vicky
c515 mph
Kurt
Mikedx
Minidaz (tbc)

Anymore please say I - PS any local's willing to help with the directions much appreciated - map on the first posting by Boo Boo

PS any local's willing to help with the directions much appreciated - map on the first posting by Boo Boo
I hope we do manage to get all the way around without getting lost. Some of the red routes are in a little bit of a bad state I've heard, so we may be picking up the C5's at various points to cross the fallen branches!
If my C5 is up and running by then I will DEFINITELY be there. Got more new bits arriving this week, so far so good!
-
Vicky and I live near the first bit, she used to be a postie so has a pretty good idea of a lot of the route. I might bring the sat nav anyway! A lot of the route is dedicated cycle paths so there aren't too many problems with traffic. Looking forward to it !

Mate that's a great news as I have been round in a few circles recently !!!!!!
-
If we do get lost and end up doing a bit of exploring it isnt really a problem - it will just add to the fun ;D
Wouldn't worry about it too much 8)
-
Yes very true - this place is fantastic for C5 - miles and miles of purpose built bike path's - C5 heaven
-
Looking good for me to attend, the basket case C5 is now back in a (motorless) drivable form with lots of new bits!
Now to try and replace that pesky rear brake nut / bolt :(
-
Now to try and replace that pesky rear brake nut / bolt :(
..which bits do you need ?
-
I need the bolt that the brake cable goes through, as mine is virtual flat (I'm guessing I need a new nut on there too!)

Great news Chas is going to try and get to this with Supergran - not to be missed
-

...as if a convoy of c5's isn't strange enough for most people to cope with - I've no idea how they'll cope with the Supergran sleigh tagging along ;D
I can't wait - it will be such a laugh :D 8)
-
Looks like its going to be a great day out.
I will be busy in the morning, but might come and find you all a bit later just to say Hi and get a look at Super gran ....
I am trying every trick in the book to try and get out of a commitment i have in the morning, but its not looking good.
Hope you all have a great day and may see some of you later....

-
It's looking like i won't be able to make this one :(
Unfortunatly my Mini has decided to play up, and i'm leading a run shortly at a mini show i co-organise, so this weekend we're trying to get everything sorted and fixed in time.
If we're able to sort it Saturday, then Sunday should be okay, but we'll have to see. I'll update on here Saturday night to let you all know for sure :)
Daz
-
OK Daz -thanks for letting us know - hope the mini repairs go smoothly
-
Radiomarty, I'll be there now for sure! :) :) I should be up and running tonight on the project C5! If that fails, then I have a backup plan

Looking good for a great day out....lovely weather , a film crew, and a c5alive run - doesn't get much better than that 8)
-
Not going to be able to make this one now :(
Spent longer than planned on the car, which meant stuff i was planning on doing today now needs doing tomorrow.
Looking forward to seeing all the pics, and you'll have to tell more about the film crew once they've filmed ... if your allowed :D
Hope you all have a great day , and have plenty of fun in the sun 8)

Nice to meet all you guys at willen briefly today.. we were both raring to go and meet you at giffard park but unfortunately it was one of those days and vickys C5 developed a grinding noise from the motor and wasnt too well whilst I got a puncture round the corner from home!
look forward to catching you all on the next one though.

Just wanted to say big thanks to radiomarty for organising it, to karl + angie for the way-back refreshments and to everybody for making it such a great day. I'll certainly be along again!
I'm going to sit down with google maps and plan a route that we can do a full circuit. The journey back to willen today certainly proved it can be done quite quickly if we arent going the wrong way!
Hope to see you all at another run soon! :) :)
-
Well another great C5Alive run - great weather and good fun - we started by filming with the guy's for the BBC programme and then set off on the route - managed to get to the concrete cows and had a good reaction from one and all - Great to see Supergran and a special thanks to Mikedx for all the help with the route - Photo's attached :

Another excellent run ;D
Good to see Chas piloting the supergran C5, and MikeDx on his maiden voyage :D...plus I reckon Matt is a budding lewis Hamilton judging by the way he threw "Goldfinger" around those twisty bits. Fearless !
As with all the runs it wasn't without the fun of a few snags - a couple of punctures (RadioMarty and Chas) ,a throttle playing up on Voodoo and the relay sticking on "Moneypit" - before it fixed itself 8). Nothing we couldn't overcome ;)
The filming went well and I was really chuffed with the surprise - but sadly you'll have to wait before I can reveal what I was given :-X

No worries mate, on the c5alive runs you never leave a man (or girlie) behind ;D :D :)
The Royal run is up next - which has a lovely downhill section that is always good for a giggle ;D
(...and thanks for the little pressie, most appreciated 8))

I particularly enjoyed it when we were riding round the lake and I heard somebody say "Wow look at those! I want a ride in the kings chair!" (referring to supergran).
Next time we should hire them out. £10 per lap

An update regarding the filming that took place during this run;
"...The first episode goes out on Wednesday November 3rd, BBC1 at 7.30pm"
I do know that we won't feature in the first episode (there are six episodes in total), but I can't mention any more at this stage until we get the okay from the film company.
More news to follow as soon as I'm allowed to 8)
-
....probably the worst kept secret ;D, but the filming that took place for this run is to feature in the new Wallace & Gromit series Wallace & Gromit’s World of Invention
starting soon on BBC1. I'm told our c5's do feature, possibly in episode 2 (depends on the running order).
The clues to our involvement were on the forum;
http://c5alive.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1001.0
http://c5alive.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1107.0
....so thanks for helping to keep it all quiet before the official "launch" date by the BBC. I've seen some of the publicity stuff is already appearing in national newspapers, so we can go ahead and tell everyone about our involvement 8)
-
Phew - that's been a heavy weight on my shoulders !!!! -Really looking forward to seeing this seems like ages ago! :) :)

For those waiting to catch a glimpse of us on "Wallace & Gromit's World of Inventions" you need to keep an eye out for the episode titled "Getting from A to B".
For those that have the book , you can see the chapter titles equate to the TV epsiode titles - but the TV running order is different.
-
My money is on "Getting from A to B" being shown on the 8th December...

It was good stuff, and they had the QL ad too. The new X-1 looks pretty nippy but so I wanted to kick that old snooty traffic warden on the C5 bit right up the *pardon my French*! >:(
-
Well, at least we were on screen!
Even if it was 5 hundredths of a second each! :)
-
A good bit on Sir Clive I think, must admit I would need to see and test the X1 before I pay one, but I reckon it's that bit bigger to stop everyone saying its dangerous and too small to be seen, its got to be a winner at £595. It might have been breif, but well done everyone.
Retro Andy.

It was all too brief an appearance really :-\. Shame so much of the footage from the day failed to make it past the cutting room floor...the saving grace is that we didn't all travel there just for the filming. On this instance they attended a run we had already planned, so nothing lost from our perspective ;).
A really good series all the same 8)

Its out on DVD from Monday.... ;)
Maybe some extra footage on that ???
