Heres some update pics of my C5 body shell
Its taken 5 hours to remove and blend out scuffs and scratches,
2 coats of plastic adhesion primer
3 coats of high build primer to cover stipple effect and light scratches
9 hours of sanding and smoothing the primer
2 coats of cobalt blue paint
and 3 coats of laquer for that sleek finish.
Heres the pics from 1985 run around to cobalt cruiser see what you think.

Thats a really nice colour as well Phil, thats going to look smart when finished, any graphics?

Yeh i might get some silver graphics with the sinclair logo for down the side and maybe some other bits and pieces.
id like to get some scotland stickers for down beside the front light as well.
Dont know what else yet!!!

fabulous paint job and colour chosen, reckon it would also look great in 'candy apple red' as used on the bike/car pimping shows
not sure if mine is as 'bad' as this one started out and would so really like advice/method on getting the shell so brilliantly glass smooth in prep for painting.

i've been watching as many threads as possible to glean the advice, current dank weather don't allow for decent spraying so ideal to do the research now then gear up for the spray job.
that is truly a fantastic colour for a C5 livery, i wonder how a blue JPS would fare lol!
hope to CU at Brooklands, do we need to book to bring our machines or just turn up?

I followed Fezzas instructions when painting my body shell, and i think mine turned out okay.
The main difference between his and mine is that i did mine outside, and i used aerosols.
The plastic adhesion primer is very important as without it, the paint will fall off.

I also used their highbuild primer.

I got 2 cans of this, but then ended up getting another can from Halfords. I also got the top coat , Ford purple velvet , from Halfords.

really after how you smoothed the shell so well, as you know it has it own fine dimples on it?
polishing bonnet on a spinner, 'wet n dry' or cutting compound a cloth and loads of elbow grease.
(i'm hoping it wass the polishing bonnet - me being a lazy devil ::))

I used wet n dry and a lot of elbow grease :D
Basically i went over it then felt for any patches that were still rough, and then did it again .. and again, and again.
It did take a while and was quite boring, but it is worth it in the end.
I did use a sander to do it initially, but then found that by using wet n dry by hand, i could get into all the little bits alot better.
