Batteries and rain ?
« on: 29, July, 2009 - 15:51:23 »
As there is bound to be a time when i'm out and it rains ( got to love the unpredictable weather  ::) ), i just wondered are there any issues, or has anyone had any issues, with rain coming into contact with the battery ?

I'm using a leisure battery along with quick release connectors, so part of it is open to the elements ( although the quick release does cover the battery post )

I have been out in all weathers and the battery is has been fine, there was an episode on mythbusters when they plunged a car in a swimming pool to see if you can open the doors whilst submerged.  All the lights and electric windows still worked.

How your pod and control box holds up though is another matter.  I have been out in really heavy rain and it had a few problems with the pod.  Was OK though in the end - but I wont risk it in future.

You should be OK with side panels and the cheater tho as it covers the entire top of the C5

'daz, check out some of the meetings we've had over the past 18months - we've been out in some real downpours and never had any snags.

I've always been surprised as to what a C5 will put up with.

Cool.  I had a feeling that they would be fine, but always good to see what other peoples experiances are  :)

I think we can comfortably claim to be "all-weather" riders  ;D

My C5 has been fine in all weathers, great fun in light snow. The only thing the rain has an effect on is your head, it makes your hair change colour as i have noticed that the grey hair is comming through more and i think its started to wash it away now aswell, i am sure its not because i'm getting older  :D
