Bournemouth - 3rd March 2013
« on: 28, December, 2012 - 19:13:54 »
If anyone's interested in making the trip, the 6th annual Vintage Transport Day at the Bournemouth Aviation Museum will be held on 3rd March 2013.

I took several old bikes/motorbikes last year, but here'severything from cars to buses to tanks... if you can bring to it C5 for the day you'd be hugely welcome :)

All welcome, lots of entertainment, lovely staff! Must register but can supply form or contact details if anyone's interested in a nice Sunday out in Dorset!

What a fantastic day! A bit on the cold side, but great turnout. The C5s really turned heads, and drew a bigger crowd than most other stuff there (including an E type parked opposite!)...

We let people sit in one of them and have their photos taken etc which really went down well! The inside of the museum (although it's actually outside) was pretty much the same as usual with the exception of a Spitfire they had in especially for the event so I didn't bother walking in to take photos as I've been too many times before, but here are the photos I did take:-

I actually had a sit in the TVR coming down towards the camera as I let the owner have a spin in my C5! Amazing car!

I don't know what the safety issue was. The top of the hi viz is above the bottom of the drivers windscreen  ;)

Finally, a shot of our two together! Right. The one furthest from the camera is the one we lovingly call the 'go cart'. It's got no electrics, but looks 'right', which is why we let people sit in it. It has the wheels that originally came off of the closest one. The CLOSE one is my pride and joy. Every possible extra, runs like a dream! I went to Halfords yesterday to get the brakes adjusted and the manager (after he calmed down!) asked if he could have a go. I let him take it for a spin around the car park and he had a great time! Drew a small crowd too o) Such is the power of the C5...

The whole dark grey boot debate is still on. The boot that was on the one on the left is now on the one on the right... from the dates, the white boot one was built in January and the grey boot in February, but they still look good  ::)

Me staring lovingly at my collection, and feeling the cold despite 5 layers! The vehicle behind me is an Austin Gipsy. It was dry stored by the government 'in case of nuclear war' for over 30 years, bought by a farmer and used for a few years, and is now owned by Robin. Lovely guy, lovely vehicle! Oh, and look closely for Ashley, our youngest, in the background  ;D

Lovely pair!

The man actually ended up having a ride! The woman was adament she wouldn't be able to get back out again  ::)

Great show! Looking forward to next years!

They make a good pair... one totally complete with all extras, the other basic  :) I'm going to start a bit of work on the 'basic' one now that the good one's done. I'm not sure whether to bother motorising it though...

It's a great contrast.

Just one thing. Shouldn't the mud guards be mounted underneath the body not on top?

That was a debate that I had with my wife... and she won  ::)

I'm going to cure that for the next outing. They certainly do look better than having two identical, although at the least I'm going to do the stickers and wheels on the basic one to tidy it up a bit. The last two faults on the good one are centre caps and a cracked rear light, so I'm still scouring Ebay for them!  ;)

Good luck finding the parts. I find that hardly any items come up on eBay. I have been looking for original mud flaps and a seat cushion but nothing.

Check the out. It says transfer the mud flap  to the inside the wheel arch.

Word at the show was that they're think of making it May next year instead of March... it's a lovely, smallish, friendly show, but my God it's cold! We're still planning on doing Weston Super Mare at the end of this month :)
