Rugged C5
« on: 24, April, 2008 - 20:37:47 »
Hi all

Given the general shabbiness of my C5 shell and the urging of my work colleges, I was thinking of painting the thing.

Now what I was thinking of was doing a military theme and doing it olive drab. But in addition I could make it look Rugged (knobbly tyres perhaps).

Overall it might end up looking like sergeant Bash (any one remember).

What you think?

Forget the knobbly tyres if you want to use it on any runs, they really do make a big difference to speed, comfort and range.

Otherwise great idea, it could be a race though as I know Karl was planning the exact same theme for one of his C5's !!

Could be good to see the pair done

Then let it be so

and let the concept of rugged C5's be the victor

After some thought Im going to go with the concept of C5 meets apachie attack heliopter.

For now probberbly start with a paint job. I may update the controls (putting in my own speed controller, or one from c5 alive) with a lot more buttons and such. Might try and incorperate a sat nav in for the look (and my bad direction).

I expectthe thing to get gradually madder as my rather inventive imagination takes over.

Two military spec C5's would be great, only thing is I might take a while sorting mine - what with all my other commitments ::)

I'm thinking of painting "Clive" in shocking pink, with a feather boa tied to the mast at the rear and a great big pair of plastic comedy titties strapped to the front.

What's everyone think?

LOL :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Is it easy enough to spray the C5 myself, or should I get it professionly done?

Easy enough to do it yourself mate, but i strongly recommend using a compressor and 2k paint instead of cans - its cheaper and a better job is done.

If you dont have a compressor, I would be happy to lend you mine for a week, with a spray gun. 2k Paint is available on ebay easily and 1 litre should prove enough to do the job.

Might take you up on that.

What do you think I will need regarding paint/ primer?

Also:

how is it best to mask the grey plastic parts?

How should I prep the shell (including filler)

Lots of questions but Its all new to me.

If I sort It out perhaps I can borrow the compresser over a week. It will be chance to see a few working C5's at the same time.
