Hi Everybody,

I am trying with Karl to get you all to the Netherlands in July. The neighborhood where I live is called the Achterhoek and there are really fabulous smooth miles and miles of bicycle roads through the valley of the river the Ijssel, the Veluwe, a national park, most roads open for bicycles only, and the Achterhoek, a century's old agricultural area with lots of old city's and where it is easy to make a twelve castles route of about 12 miles.
Best of all, it is basically flat in holland so it could be a very relaxed weekend or day or whatever. I wil try to find sponsors, and I already have some Dutch C5 fanatics and I'm trying to find some Germans to, to make it an international event. Even Denmark is only 8 hours driving from here. Open for suggestions.
Hope to get a lot of response.

Greetings

Frank

Hi RetroAndy,

Maybe it is not to far if you have a little trailer behind your Sinclair filled with battery's?  ;D
But on the other hand, joining and travel as a group is  maybe an option?

Hi there folks just and idea, I know the C5 is not strictly a car but I went to the National microcar rally this year and was a great day out with many micro and bubble cars attending. Well ive just seen this on another forum im on -

National Microcar Rally 2011

The Bug Club will host next years rally at The Atwell~Wilson motor museum, Calne Somerset on September 1st – 4th 2011

At the 2011 rally we are going for a world record of the most Micro cars in one place, the last record was set on September 7th 1986 at The National Microcar rally held at Cotswold wildlife park, Burford with 185 cars. This was excepted as a record by the Guinness book of records.

This year (2010) we had 133 cars, so we only need 53 more, to break the record.

I think it would be a great idea to see if we could attend and maybe part of a world record, what do people think?

I've sent an email asking if we can take part in this, awaits a reply.

I've had a reply from the guys who run the National Microcar rally;

Hello Karl,
Thank you very much for your valued enquiry.  We would be delighted to have some Sinclair C5s at next years National MicroCar Rally if possible.  A few years ago we did have the odd one attend and do remember a modified black one with a 50cc engine !.

C5s being 3 wheeled and low powered are more than eligible to come under the broad heading of a 'Microcar' and they would add another dimension to the variety of vehicles that currently attend.

I plan to take up the offer of us putting on a static display for the Sunday at least, maybe even turn up on the Saturday and camp overnight. I'll put this on a new topic to sort out numbers etc nearer the time . Good call by retroboy  :)

i'd love to come as i have Dutch blood from my Grandfather in my veins (might exsplain my very flat feet boom! boom!).

But next year, July 3rd we celebrate 40 years of contractural fueding and organised sulking, so don't think my beloved would be overly enchanted at my romantic suggestion at this time (her not being one into the C5's charms).

for those that do, many coach companies run short breaks to Amsterdam, might be an idea to contact one and ask if you could book say half the coach, C5's would ealy go underneath.
