Maiden voyage!
« on: 07, March, 2009 - 18:53:26 »
Hi,

I took the C5 out for its first trip after 24 years in the box!
I installed the leisure wiring kit (thanks Karl!) and put in a fresh Halfords battery.
I gave it a service and all was fine.
Only one downside,I lost 1 x boot clip + 1 x rear grommet while I was out on my travels!
Anyone got spares they would like to sell?

Cheers
Pete

Its really cool when you ride it for the first time.
How did it perform ?
Having never seen a brand new C5 - was there much building to do ?

Say what are you doing with the ignition block ? - would you like to sell it ?

Are you coming to the shorham meet ?

I have just bought two boot clips - which should leave me one spare, if it all turns out ok I'll let you have the spare.

Regards

Ian
edit - the grommit thing - I have both missing, so sorry cant help you on that one. - looks like something else i have to buy - lol

Hi Umpa,
Yes it went well,i had a few C5`s about 8 years ago but they were all well used by previous owners!
I gave it a mini service, greased gearbox, wheels etc.The tyres are not perished at all so I think I will keep them on for a while.I had no belt slip and it went like a train, and Im 15 stone!
Yes I will sell/swap the ignition block,it is mint with key and wires! (I dunno what its worth!)
I would much rather sell/swap it on here than stick it on ebay!
What Im really after is a front wheel cover, havent got a spare have you?
Where did you get your boot clips from? It would be really handy if you have a spare!
I wont be on the Shoreham run but I will be on the London one in April.

All the best
Pete

Hi pete,

I dont know how much they are worth m8, its up to you. Just let me know what you want.
I got the boot clips off ebay, they have yet to arrive, but as soon as they do - you are welcome to one of them, I only need two and will have three.

I only have the one front wheel cover, you might get one from www.sinclair-research.co.uk/c5 Adam Harper stocks all the original brand new spares. Dunno how much it would be tho. The money from the ignition block might pay for it.

Which halfords battery did you fit ?

Regards

Ian

Hi Ian,

Does £20 sound ok for the ignition switch? Free postage! Only thing is though if we ever meet you will be able to open my boot!!LOL!
I have spoken to Adam about front wheel covers and he does not have any left.
His battery supplier has gone bust so no more batteries from him either!
I fitted a HLB 678 leisure battery as recommended by Karl,I have used the leisure wiring kit and it fits in the footwell fine.

Cheers

Pete

to solve the boot clip problem c5 martin makes replica ones. Or make your own with a hacksaw file and some sheet steel.

Fez dude,

Its a brand new C5, only original parts will do :) - plus I'm going to give him the bit he needs when mine arrive from ebay.

I did not know C5martin made them, I did not see them on the on-line shop.
