Title: Restore or strip?
Post by: danny7147 on 05, June, 2013 - 20:28:36
I've hit a dilemma. I've got a restoration project C5 that we bought recently...

...and I'm really in two minds about exactly what to do with it. I bought it with high hopes of restoration to join the other two, but the more I think about doing it, the less enthusiasm I get!

It's virtually complete, right down to centre caps. It needs major electrical work, but nothing that a genius like Radiomarty can't fix, but is it really worth the time spending on it? I've got two virtually immaculate ones already, it would just be another one that would barely ever see the road... or I could restore it to sell, although the money it would take would really knock any profit on the head... or I could part it out and make an easy profit but feel guilty that I've consigned another C5 to the scrapheap that would make a great (relatively easy) project!

Come on guys, give me some enthusiasm or opinions  ::)

If it were me, I'd restore it.

But to keep or to sell on? Restored C5's haven't really been fetching high prices lately... parts haven't either for some reason  :-\

Yeah, I've also noticed the drop in prices.

Great excuse to restore it and keep it then, no?  ;)

Right, arms aching but gave it a thorough scrubbing!

Looking far better, but I'm really not convinced that the electrics are salvagable on this one  ???

Hi Chas, I've finally sorted the indicator mould out but still no closer to getting the colour right for the plastic yet! I'll get it in the post to you this week, huge apologies for the delay!

Price isn't really an issue for this one but I really don't know how I'd get it to you lol!
