Motor
« on: 15, December, 2012 - 21:15:04 »
My C5 has had a lot wrong with it and I just want about the motor. The motor runs fine but it makes a fairly quiet squealing sound. Need help  :( :( :( :( :( . Sometimes it stops for a couple of seconds then starts again.  ??? ??? ???

  • You don't have to be mad to own a C5, but it helps

Hi Luke,

This could be that the motor bearings need cleaning and re-greasing , the gearbox is dried out, or even the belt. It has been known that the brushes can cause squeaking. Whichever the case I would not recommend that you do the work yourself, do it together with your Dad.

Stripping the motor and gearbox is not hard, but tricky. Directions on how to strip the motor can be found in the 'Unofficial Service Manual', this can be found on the home page under 'downloads'.

Hi there Luke as I said before If you pay for the postage both ways I will strip the motor/gearbox  down clean it and re grease it for you and hopefully it will stop the squeaking .But if it's the bearings then you will have to pay for them to be replaced ..
