Hi everybody,
I'm (29m) from Bavaria/Germany and bought 2-3weeks ago a basic C5 from northern germany.
I'm looking if more from my area (Bavaria) has also one? :)
At the moment i do some repairs on my C5 and have some discussions regarding german law for driving on roads!

Hello Ben and welcome to the C5 Alive forum, i dont think you we break the law in a C5 when it comes to speeding in Germany :D
Its great to hear from people from other places, its a shame we cant all meet for the biggest meeting of C5's.

Hi Ben,
I'm Phil from south-west Germany.
The most important regulations concerning electric bicycles in Germany are:
- motor power max. 250W
- motor must shut off when exeeding 25km/h (about 16mph)
- motor only enabled while pedaling
This rules originate from EU regulations made sometime in the late 90ies.
BUT: The C5 is much older and since the regulations don't apply to previously build vehicles (as far as I know) my personal opinion is:
Just don't care about it.
Regards,
Phil

Same as over here, fortunately the rules do not apply retrospectively :)
Numbers (2) and (3) are responsible for castrating the performance of the new generation of electric bicycles ::) , unless you can get hold of an American spec one (or can "de-restrict" it) they hardly seem worth having now :-\

On Sunday I bought my second C5 from CH.
He had 3x C5's - one was sold a week before and I got the second from him.
INFO: One is left in CH/Winterthur if somebody want it :)
All 3 which he had where never used for driving, only in a showroom for mobile phones in the 90ies.
Last 10 years there where in a garage.
wheels are flat and need to be exchanged
also need a new paint, because looks unlikely (old white painted with Logo of Mobile NATEL-C)
These days I will go again to the german TÜV (=Association for Technical Inspection) regarding german LAW!

You will have to post some pictures mate.

Can you not remove the paint and restore it to the original finish ?
Several C5's on here have been successfully cleaned up - although if you do fancy a different colour there is nothing wrong with painting it :)

I think I'll try to clean the second C5 next time I have time for that.
At first I'll make my first one ready to use ;)
Who can I put pic here?
