Title: New years clearout number 2!!!
Post by: danny7147 on 24, January, 2013 - 18:40:44
Right, went through the dreaded garage today, and now have a load of other bikes listed on Ebay including an absolutely stunning Norman Nippy Mk1 that's missing the engine... great project! Here are some photos, if anyone's interested in any of them and they haven't been bid on then let me know as I'll do them cheaper for C5alive members. My biggest phobia is seeing the bikes that I've spent so long collecting ending up as parts on somebody elses ebay shop, so convince me that the one you're looking at is for restoration and they'll be a lot cheaper than you see the starting prices  ::)

1915 Humber

This is a real rarity! Verified by the Humber Register as 1915, this is an excellent restoration project for a genuine Edwardian bike. Rust proofed as when I got it it was held together by little more than rust and bird droppings, but most VERY hard to find parts are still with it!

I do have prices in my head for them, but I'm open to offers etc as I need the space and really don't have time to do anything with them anymore. I'm also happy to exchange for anything C5 related, so if any of them appeal and you've got something you think you'd like to swap, let me know  8)

Well, funny you say that Kamil...  ;D

I can't bear to see a Norman scrapped, and that's why I've got so many of them. Most of them came from really far places but there's a great story about this one...

I saw it on Ebay in the Scottish highlands... Stranraer. I thought "How the hell am I going to get that to Bournemouth??", but I chatted to the seller, he agreed that if I could get a local bike shop to agree to pack it he's drop it there. Well, there was no bike shop near there, but I found a guy that rented out mountain bikes about 20 miles from him, he said he'd drop it there for £10 fuel, and the bike shop guy said he'd pack it in a bike box for £10. That still left how to get it here!

I called LOADS of companies up, and I got it delivered here for... ready? £8. Parcel Monkey  8) I've still got no idea how they made a profit out of that, but they did it! Bicycles can be really cheap to transport  :) I actually know most of the history of all of the bikes in my collection, but it's just got to the point that (as my tagline says) I've got WAY too much on with making silicone moulds for the C5's, keeping the other 5 bicycles roadworthy, etc etc etc, that this lot are just going to be sitting doing nothing for a long, long time.

The Nippy would make someone a fantastic project, the Mk1's one of the rarest, and the sidepanels for it are harder to find that boxed indicators for the C5! But again, it's been sitting in the garage for 2 years and it'll more than likely sit there for another 5 before I get around to it which is why it's gotta go!

Just remembered it's actually a 1913 Number... pre-WW1 :)

Stacy found that and another one for sale on Gumtree, both rusted to bits and listed as "Old Bikes". The sister one turned out to be a 1905 Royal Sunbeam and sold for a lot of money! One of those once in a lifetime barn finds ;)

Talking about WW1 I have just finished making this out of Lego. A Sopwith Camel. The Elevator and ailerons work from a stick in the Co.ckpit

Impressive! I used to collect bits of aeroplanes. I've no idea why lol!  Have you and your dad taken your C5 to any shows yet by the way?
