At one point Mark, previous owner of c5alive, was selling boxed "new old stock" c5's for about £900.

Around the time he sold c5alive he sold one on Ebay for about £600 , so valuing a C5 is not an exact science.

When I placed "Virgin" up for sale I got a few people expressing an interest but no serious offers, so I chose to keep it for exhibitions etc - it was the one used for the studio shots in the recent episode of the Gadget Show.

Fingers crossed Chas gets what he wants, but I'm sure he's aware he is selling in difficult times and quite rightly holding out for the best price.

New "old stock" C5's can only become more rare,so I expect eventually they will go up in price

If you mean the 'standard' C5, I dont know what reserve he has on it (I never asked!).

As for the petrol C5, same again................. I never asked the price, I could'nt, when I was on it last, I passed by him too quick to ask  :o :o

I can ask if you want though??

I was wanting to ask you about that, but thought it was a secret - lol

Have you done anything with it yet ?

I have just been on the wiki and saw this

Degradation
Polypropylene is liable to chain degradation from exposure to UV radiation such as that present in sunlight. For external applications, UV-absorbing additives must be used. Carbon black also provides some protection from UV attack. The polymer can also be oxidized at high temperatures, a common problem during moulding operations. Anti-oxidants are normally added to prevent polymer degradation.

So I have moved my baby into the shade - lol

Having lef a few scrap shells out in my back garden for a couple of years I wouldn't worry too much about the degradation issue - I am confident Sir Clive built the c5 to last the distance  ;D

My plans for the "special" c5 are progressing...thats all I want to say for now  :P :-X

...I'll put you on my list for "test pilot" though  :D

That frame work, motor, gears and brakes are a great improvement, if it could still have the original wheel trims and boot fitted etc, it would be very useable on longer runs, you could sell a few of them Karl if you bring the new and the original together.

Building such a fine beastie is beyond my limited skills mate, and the amount of time, materials and effort Spike put into the project probably means producing small numbers of such a machine is not financially viable.

I've enough spare parts to make this special c5 look a lot closer to standard, which is part of my plan  8)

It will be great to try it out and compare it too the standard C5, looking forward to the end result.
