My motor end cap has arrived from Adam. Now to remove the armature from the old brown cap I simply rest the bottom of the cap in between the jaws of a workmate, then whack the armature downward with a mallet to release the bearing ?
Cheers

I'm not entirely following what you are wanting to take apart, but I don't think you should need to remove the bearings that are fixed to the armature.
I'll take some piccies tomorrow (night shift tonight... :-[) of a dismantled motor that might help, we can take it from there.
If you're in a hurry, give Martin a ring !

hi Karl,
When you remove the brushes endcap and the main housing and gearbox, your left with the plastic 'frontend' with the armature going through it. It's held in place by the armature bearing. It's a tight fit.

I know what you are referring to now ....
The bearing stays on the end of the armature, you should be able to pull the armature away from the "fingers" - if its stuck then gently tap it with a rubber mallet.

ps - dont worry about your aramture looking different to the one in the photo - the one in the piccie is damaged .

so that we dont loose this info, I've compiled a new thread called "motor assembly" in the faults & solutions section

Hi Karl,
Thanks for that, I'm on the job now (I'm on days) and am going to fit the C5 battery wires too.
I'm hoping to get it done and have a blast on it today. Getting that kid feeling again.
