Carrying weight of a C5
« on: 14, May, 2010 - 10:29:44 »
Hi All

Whats the maximum carrying weight of a C5? In terms of actual people weight? A friend of mine is quite a large lad, but really wants a go (and is a bit scared he'll just flatten it)

What's the guidelines say? :) Any (bad) experiences?

I shouldn't worry mate, I'm massive, and my C5 takes me where I want to go.  You'll probably find that he needs to pedal more, but then that's great excercise anyway.  I too felt that my C5 would collapse under myself, but it seems to tolerate me quite well.  Having said that, this could explain the chassis damage.  Then again, I'm not sure.

I'm just over 15 1/2 stone and don't have a problem, but would like to be about thirteen stone so Charlie could nip along a bit quicker  :)

The definitive answer !

As found in the handbook ,and also on page 9 of the C5 Driver magazine, is ;

Max. recommended gross weight .............150kg (330lb)
,which equates to 23 stone 8lbs

Which I have to admit is more than I realised  :)

I'm assuming the maximum gross weight quoted will be the c5's "all up" weight so includes battery and rider,plus contents of luggage compartment.

This prompted me into starting the "Tech Spec" topic ;

..not very happy with the second picture, the scanned copy of the smaller handbook page just hasn't come out too well  :-\, but at least it can be read (just about).
